Stanley Duncan Conservation Award 2025

Preston and District Wildfowlers Association (PDWA) were awarded the Stanley Duncan Conservation Trophy by BASC at the Game Fair on 26 th July 2025.

This prestigious conservation award was collected by the Chairman and members of the committee at a special ceremony on the BASC Stand. The award was presented to our Chairman, Chris Kelly by BASC president The Marquess of Hamilton and BASC chairman Eoghan Cameron.

BASC commented that “PDWA has demonstrated exceptional commitment to conservation and nature recovery efforts. Through projects like the Hutton Marsh Conservation Improvement Plan, BASC’s duck wing survey and duck nesting tube monitoring projects, plus BASC Wildlife Fund-supported Project Penelope wigeon ringing and a shelduck monitoring project, PDWA has become a leader in promoting
sustainable wildfowling and research-driven conservation work.”

At the awards ceremony PDWA were praised for our tireless efforts in the field of conservation and promoting the sustainability and spirit of wildfowling.

This great achievement was only possible due to the hard work and efforts of many officers, committee members and members over the last few years. The Chairman and committee would like to thank everyone involved for their help and support.

Our conservation efforts are showing continued success in 2025 with increased numbers of breeding waders and wildfowl, with recently improved habitats now becoming established. Ongoing work includes establishing a second pebble beach, planting out sea club rush and bull rush, and further developing island nesting sites on the out marsh.

PDWA are committed not just towards creating and maintaining conditions conducive to sustainable wildfowling, but also to developing, restoring and managing habitats for a large range of non-quarry species.
